Vintage Brush Finish Brass (ZI240) Category: Vintage Zippo LightersReviewsI purchased this lighter to have "just in case". So far it's held up fine. The brass finish gives it a very classy look. Though the finish hasn't held up too well in my pocket, I think it just adds a little character to it. And while I wouldn't exactly say it's windproof, it doesn't have much trouble keeping a flame outdoors. But, most importantly, keep fluid in it and it will light up every time. Average Rating:![]() |

Zippo Vintage with Slashes High Polish Chrome Pocket LighterReviewsThe Zippo Vintage with Slashes is one of two Zippos I own (the other being a standard Street Chrome version), and this is definitely my favorite of the two. While it does run about $4 more than a standard Zippo, it is well worth the money. This Zippo is a Vintage Series 1937 model with some slight differences from today's Zippos. Modern Zippo lighters have a bit of a curved top, whereas this Zippo has a flatter top. Aside from that, it's not much different from any other High Polish Chrome Zippo other than the fact that it has some neat "slashes" in the corners. The performance is not unlike any other Zippo. I've conducted numerous tests in varying weather conditions and was able to get a light fairly quickly in standard and windy weather, at most having to attempt twice before I finally got flame. The lighter has been dropped numerous times on hard ground but I still get a very durable structure with very little horizontal play on the hinge. It comes in a little case like any Zippo would, with some basic information and safety precautions in the top part. One thing I didn't know, being that this was my first Zippo, is how fast the lighter fluid went. I use my Zippo for tricks, so I don't really need to light it often, but the fluid had evaporated completely in a bit longer than a week. I'd highly recommend a 12 oz. can of Zippo fluid and also a card of Flints (run about $5 including shipping, or you can find them at your local smoke shop or take them out of a disposable lighter). This applies to any Zippo, of course. I am very satisfied with this product. It is an essential for collectors and just cool to be able to have a unique Zippo model that many others may not have. Send it out as a gift. My uncel was very happy when he received the gift. Some thing he can keep for years to come. It would be better if the seller could indicate which fuel is suitable for this type of lighter. It's very good, a classic zippo type especially at that price. So I give 5 stars. Zippo 1941 Replica Brushed Brass Pocket LighterReviewsOld school classy. Simple, unmistakeable Zippo. I've learned to light friends rather than hand them this Zippo as it tends to wind up in their pocket. The "vintage" changes are very subdued, it doesn't look or feel much different than any other Zippo. The brass finish takes a pretty good beating and still looks good. This is my third purchase. One "dissappeared", one was a gift and I kept mine. I'd say that's a recommendation. Bought one of these back in the day and had it for years...and Im the kind of person that more often than not looses smaller objects like this. Well, my house got broken into and it was stolen, and I have to say that it was the one thing I missed the most. I took the plunge and bought another one and couldn't be happier! The finish on the case is superb. Brushed on the front and back face with a very smooth polish on all sides. The actual lighter insert on the inside is also brass as well for those wondering. Its exactly as I remember it, but still feels new in every sense. The hinge I found to be loose in the fact that it opens easily and comes all the way back...however, it is not loose in movement from side to side...just like they were when they were first made. This easy opening and swinging all the way back is probably what the first reviewer is talking about...it is completely normal and nothing to be upset/worried about! Overall, in my opinion, this is the best Zippo ever made, at least out of the countless number of ones Ive owned. If you are looking for a Zippo with high grade fit and finish - as well as one thats just plain sexy, look no where else! 5 star + + +!!! This is a very nice change from the current Zippo style, the only problem I had with it was that the lid was a little loose, other than that small problem its a definitely recommended lighter. Enjoy a nostalgic throwback to the early days of the authentic Zippo Lighter. The Zippo 1941 Replica Lighter closely replicates the distinctive characteristics of this 70 year old model. This 40s era reproduction can be distinguished from todays windproof Zippo Lighter by its sharper, less rounded edges, four-barrel hinge, fewer chimney holes, hollow rivet and more... |

The Handbook of vintage Cigarette Lighters (Schiffer Book for Collectors)ReviewsThis is a good book for vintage lighter collectors if you use it in conjunction with The Big Book of Cigarette Lighters. Good reference for finding lighters and knowing what you have. More than 2o books about collectible lighters have been published in the past years. Many are focused to specific lighter manufacturers. Books with a wide content, covering many different aspects of lighter collecting are scarce and often incomplete. This book is different. It gives a new collector the optimal idea about collectible lighters of this century. Fantastic models are shown in excellent quality and there is not much missing. I am a European collector for many years and I must say this book covers the global lighter collecting quite perfectly. In addition it is both affordable and handy. Congratulation to the editors- This is a great book - a must have for anyone dealing in cigarette lighters. It is the only book I know of that gives such a complete over view of vintage lighters. A highly recommended read! Bob Brockmann New Haven, Indiana Well thought out presentation of collectable lighters. Pictured items cover the gamut of beginner's basics, to extremely rare pieces that most advanced collectors will never own. Certainly a "must have" for all lighter collectors, and an interesting historical perspective for non-collectors. Average Rating:![]() |
